More Than Just a Hike: A Night at Monts Chevreuils Hut

Some of the best experiences begin with a simple decision: say yes to something new.

Our overnight trip to Monts Chevreuils Hut was exactly that: an opportunity to step away from routine, embrace adventure, and experience the mountains in a way that challenged, rewarded, and connected everyone involved.

With backpacks packed and spirits high, students set off on the hike towards the hut, winding their way through forests, alpine meadows, and mountain trails. While the views

were spectacular, the journey itself quickly became the real highlight.

Not every section of the trail was easy. There were steep climbs, tired legs, and moments when the next bend in the path seemed just a little further away than expected. But those challenges became part of the experience. Students encouraged one another, shared snacks and water, and celebrated every milestone along the way.

One of the remarkable things about spending time outdoors is how quickly strangers become teammates. Conversations that might never happen in everyday settings suddenly flow naturally when everyone is working toward the same goal. By the time the group reached Mont Chevreuil Hut, there was a real sense of shared accomplishment.

And what a reward awaited.

Perched in the mountains and surrounded by breathtaking scenery, the hut offered the perfect opportunity to slow down and appreciate the natural world. Away from distractions, students had the chance to be fully present—to enjoy the views, the fresh mountain air, and the simple pleasure of being outdoors.

As daylight faded, the atmosphere shifted from adventure to celebration.

Gathered around a bonfire, students shared stories, laughter, and plenty of questionable hiking tales that somehow improved with every retelling. The crackling fire, the mountain backdrop, and the company of friends created one of those moments that no itinerary can fully plan but everyone remembers.

There is something timeless about a bonfire. It brings people together. It encourages conversation. It turns a group into a community.

The overnight stay added another dimension to the adventure. Sleeping in a mountain hut, sharing meals, and experiencing life at a different pace reminded everyone that some of the most memorable moments come from the simplest experiences.

What made this trip special was not reaching the hut itself, but everything that happened along the way. The willingness to try something new. The determination to keep going when the trail became challenging. The friendships strengthened through shared experiences. The confidence gained from discovering that you are capable of more than you initially thought.

Experiential learning is often talked about as a powerful way to grow, but sometimes growth is as simple as saying yes to a challenge, stepping onto a trail, and seeing where it leads.

The Mont Chevreuil Hut trip was filled with stunning views, tired legs, laughter, bonfires, and unforgettable memories. Most importantly, it reminded us that some of life's best lessons are learned not by watching, but by doing.

And sometimes, all it takes is a backpack, a mountain trail, and a group of people willing to embrace the adventure.
