CHAMPIONS: The Power of Community, Support and Determination

Every year, the Swiss Education Group (SEG) Sports Day brings together students from across the network in a celebration of competition, teamwork, and school spirit. This year, however, it became something even more memorable for SHMS Leysin.

The results alone were remarkable. Our volleyball team went undefeated throughout the tournament, football secured 1st place, and basketball fought hard to earn a place on the podium with a 3rd-place finish. Together, these performances contributed to an achievement that had been years in the making: SHMS Leysin claimed 1st place overall.

Yet the true story of the day was not written on the leaderboard.

It was heard in the cheers from the sidelines. It was seen in the students who stayed long after their own matches had finished to support teammates competing in another sport. It was felt in every celebration, every word of encouragement, and every moment when individuals came together as one community.

Success on this scale does not happen by accident. It is the result of commitment, determination, and countless hours of preparation. But it is also built on support. By the end of the day, many supporters had lost their voices from cheering, a small but powerful symbol of the energy and passion that carried our teams forward.

In hospitality, we often say that great experiences are created by people working together toward a shared goal. Sports Day reminded us that the same principle applies everywhere. When a community believes in one another, supports one another, and works together, extraordinary things can happen.

This year, SHMS Leysin proved exactly that.
